Solving crises is not home management. It is just putting out fires.
You live across borders. In different cities. With different horizons. And yet, an entire industry treats your home like a time bomb. They give you a list of installers and call it a service. They connect five smart devices with an app and call it management. They hand over your keys to a broker who only accesses your home as a rental listing. Fixing things only happens when they break down, which is a form of panic management. An app full of warnings is just digital noise. And real estate agents are only interested in profit, not your satisfied living.
They approach your refuge as a machine waiting for a breakdown or an item in the budget waiting to be paid off. Waiting for the pipe to burst and then hurriedly finding a repairman is not management. It is only minimizing the damage. It is a status quo that apologizes in advance for its failure. It is the same as driving a car for years without changing the oil and having only the number to call for towing as a quick option. Real property management is proactive, not reactive. It consists of having reviewed warranties, scheduled inspections, mapped out energy contracts, and organized key documents long before the smoke alarm goes off. It’s time to stop treating the chaos surrounding real estate ownership as the norm – especially for families and investors who live and work in multiple countries. Are you currently stuck in a „fire-fighting“ mode, or have you found a way to proactively manage your property? Share your experiences in the comments!
